When we are referring to a diamond's color, we are referring to the amount of tint or slight shade within a diamond. A diamond with a "D" color is absent of any tint of color and is classified as 'colorless'. Diamonds that receive a grade of D, E, or F are referred to as 'colorless'. Diamonds, which receive a grade of G, H, I, or J, are referred to as 'near colorless'. In each of these categories, the diamond will appear white when individually viewed. A diamond which receives a K or L color, will appear to have a slight body tint. The lower on the scale a diamond's color grade, the more obvious the tint becomes to the viewer. The tint may be yellowish, brownish, or even grayish, but the bottom line is that the diamond will no longer appear 'white'.
